Josep Tarradellas Barcelona–El Prat Airport is the main international airport of Barcelona, Spain and one of the busiest airports in Europe. It is located about 12–15 km southwest of Barcelona city centre, close to the Mediterranean coast. The airport is named after Josep Tarradellas, a former president of Catalonia, and serves as the main gateway to Catalonia and the Spanish Mediterranean region. BCN handles around 50–57 million passengers per year, making it the second busiest airport in Spain after Madrid-Barajas.
